6363636Rauf Akhmetovich Murtazin (1910-1994) is a Bashkir composer. He was the first who used a genre of symphony in the Bashkir music. He was Honored Art Worker of the Bashkir Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic, a laureate of the Salavat Yulaev Award. He was born in the village of Temyasovo in the Baymaksky region.
He graduated from a seven-year school and entered the orchestra faculty at the Ufa music technical school. At the same time he was a trumpet player in an orchestra of the Bashkir Drama Theatre. From 1937 to 1941 he studied at Moscow Conservatory, the Bashkir faculty, in composition class.
In the early days of the war R. Murtazin went to the front. He participated in fights near Moscow, got wound. Having been demobilized, he continued his music studies and in 1946 finished the conservatory in composition class.
From 1947 to 1966 he worked as a vice-chairman of the Union of Composers and was elected as a member of the Union of Composers of Bashkortostan and Russia many times.
The composer’s works include the operas "Azat", "Storm", works for a symphony orchestra, chamber- instrumental pieces, more than 150 songs and romances on verses of the Bashkir poets.
He was awarded with The Order of the Badge of Honour twice and nine medals, including "For the defense of Moscow", "For Valiant Labour".
